Review Just Remember to Breathe (Thompson Sisters) by Charles Sheehan-Miles

But it was too late for that. Love meant a lot. It meant everything, and it meant nothing.”
Just Remember to Breathe is the book that deserves to be read.

Located on the line between ages, the New Adult genre takes what is best from Young Adult and Adult. It’s not bound by the restrictions, sometimes silly, sometimes required of Y.A. or trapped in the freedoms given by so-called mature reader. And it seems to be trendy, more books of this genre begin to appear, and if you do not know the author, to hit one not so successful is a pretty big risk. And descriptions do not help much either.

Luckily for me, I chose well. Just Remember to Breathe will steal sighs and provide strong emotions.

Sometimes finding your soul mate is not enough. Sometimes the moment you find that person who fulfills you it’s only the moment when the fight starts. Love is not enough, and when the uncertainty and distrust appear, disaster is very close. Not to mention the effects of the non-communication!

Like this is when broken Alex and Dylan reunited. Found, broke apart and found again, fate gives them another chance to see if it's still possible something between them: friendship, love or ... nothing.

And if themselves, their fear of not being hurt again or to not hurt the other are not in their way, then society, family, life in general can make them to doubt and to come to lose what they hold dearest. Our heroes must decide if they face each other or together will fight against those who oppose their relationship, but especially against the fears that they will fail somehow. Dylan's past weighs heavily on his shoulders.

The author is careful to give the reader a complete picture by providing both points of view, Alex and Dylan's, but manages to keep hidden the reasons and motives of those involved. They will come, but when it is necessary.

I like how modern society issues and perceptions related to war, veterans, victims and their families are introduced. But these are not the only social problems raised by the author who remain loyal to his decision to show the both possible points of view. All of these aspects are stated in a gentle way without capture or distort the story, but giving substance to it.

The humor is also present and is able to relax a bit the reader before the next twist. Secondary characters are equally attractive and have an important role to play in all aspects of the book.

Happy ending or not, it’s not depends on us. Surprise or not, predictable or not, the ending gives them the chance (yet again?) of a happy future. Only the chance, the rest is up to them.

They say that true love brings suffering. That's about the idea and note that not all people receive a second chance. Cherish what you have, fight for what you want! Read the book!

But it was too late for that. Love meant a lot. It meant everything, and it meant nothing.”

Just Remember to Breathe va fura suspine şi va oferi emoții puternice.
