Interview and Giveaway Tied Up In Heartstrings by Felicia Lynn

Description:

Tragedy ripped the security from her life. Left a single mother, Alexis's fear of loss insulates her from the rest of the world. Her best friends from college and close family are the only people she keeps close.

A man from her past has always been in love with Alexis. He’s never met anyone that measures up to her. Garrett is a musician, who never really imagined he’d have the fame and fortune that he's found. But, even with that, what he's always wanted is out of reach... or is it?

When Garrett and Alexis meet up by chance a relationship begins. Neither expected what happens. She can’t be sure she’s ready for the complications a relationship brings. He will have to work overtime to win her heart without any assurances it will be successful.

Alexis is learning about life without Jed, and is feeling more secure with parenting on her own. Garrett appreciates his fans and is enjoying his life on the road but misses having a private life. The lives they have built separately leave little room for a budding relationship, but their hearts won’t take that into consideration.

Will the cards they’ve been dealt get in the way of a love that is meant to be? Is love enough to overcome loss and heartbreak? Can they accept all that the other is, without feeling like they are living in the shadow of their former lives?

MB's INTERVIEW
Thank you, Mrs. Felicia Lynn
So, you write „contemporary romance, because love Stories make people happy”. In your book Alexis suffers first, why your book doesn’t have a happy or linear beginning?
Alexis never had a life that was never easy or simple. She learne to find and create her own happiness. She built something great with Jed that was a manageable life but it wasn’t her happy ending, it was her happy--‐for--‐now. Things happen in life that make us question our faith and trust but at the end of the day it’s these events that really teach us how weak or strong we are capable of being and it’s at that point that we can act. That was an important lesson for Alexis.

And why do you think love stories make people happy? Is it not a proverb that says that who loves, suffers? Is this true?
To me, love is the most rewarding and heartbreaking affection in the world. Yes, it can be painful sometimes. I personally have suffered a few heartbreaks that were immensely painful and sometimes still are, but I wouldn’t trade them. They will always remind me of a time in my life that I loved or was loved and that still makes me happy. One of my favorite quotes is:
"I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. "From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

Why did you choose a musician as male character and not an ordinary one?
I come from a family of musicians. Music is an important part of my life. Garrett isn’t a bad boy musician. He’s a gentleman, incredibly sweet, with a heart of gold. His fame and fortune aren’t his best assets. His incredible heart is what I wanted everyone to see. And
The language he spoke through his songs was a gift. I felt it was important to show a musician as a real person with feeling and emotions that are sometimes hard to deal with. They have priorities much like the rest of us.

Is it difficult to write a good romance given how well is represented this genre?
I never thought about that when writing. I just wrote the story that lived in my head and heart. This was never about writing a book that was as good as any of the others. It was about writing a story that is true to my characters and hoping others enjoyed the story.

What is in your opinion the secret ingredient of a good love story?
I think the secret ingredient will vary depending on the characters. For Garrett and Alexis it was learning they are worthy of each other. It was trust and breaking down walls that allowed their hearts and mind to be opened to something that could be great.

OK, now I cheat for sure, but the question is a good one: „Is love enough to overcome loss and heartbreak?” How so?
Yes, love is enough. Love doesn’t make the pain of loss any less evident in your heart. But love means having someone to hold you when the pain of the loss is overwhelming. It’s a hand or a shoulder. Learning to be open to love after a loss isn’t an overnight adjustment for most. Grief is a powerful emotion that can really break you and you can lose yourself. But eventually, it gets easier to breathe and I think after some time you learn to live a life with the brokenness until the shards start to heal.
