Sinner Repent: The Carter Chronicles #1 (A Profiler Romance Mystery) by Morgan Kelley

Description

Doctor Callista Carter only wants to heal. Running from a near life destroying case, she’s licking her wounds in a small town and off everyone’s radar.

Only, she’s drawn quite a bit of attention.
Someone’s taking lives, disguised behind the Seven Deadly Sins. It’s stirring up the small town, making waves.

The killers want her eliminated.
And the sheriff just wants her.

When Quinton Gaines is handed a slew of killings, he’s at a loss. He, too, has escaped to sleepy Myrtle Springs to regroup. Now, he’s reminded that death has no qualms with nipping at his heels. Yet, this may be the perfect opportunity to snag the elusive doctor, who has stolen his heart.

Or so he hopes…
When the killer gets personal, Quinn wishes he didn't drag Callie into the mess. Now, not only is she in danger for helping him, she’s marked to die.

Time’s running out.
Can love beat back the vicious claws of hate?
One truth is crystal clear. Quinton Gaines has to stop running in order to save his home and woman.
It’s not going to be easy with a madman hell bent on getting one thing…

REVENGE.
The killers won’t stop at anything. It’s time to get ready, and like any good Sinner... Repent.

GUEST POST

There are lots of challenges with being an erotic suspense writer. The one which I’ve found to be the most difficult to overcome is how much sex should go into each book. To me, there’s a fine line.
When I first started out, I was more a romance writer. I personally love a happy ever after, when a couple finds love, and when you get those butterflies watching a relationship unfold. BUT, my books were too heavy into sex. (or so my reviewers told me) I was told that I was too descriptive in the bedroom.

Okay, I get that. Sex isn't for everyone…well, not in a book. So, I jumped boat, switching genres. I headed over to the erotica foray, and began weaving my tales there. Again, I hit more problems. I was told the sex wasn’t hardcore enough.
What???
How could that be???
Well, here was my issue.
While no one ever complained about the mystery, the sex was in the forefront. Did I go more hardcore, trashing it up? Did I give my characters a red room and some whips?
Or did I write to make me happy?
I went with the latter. Twenty four books later, I’m in a good place. I think I’ve found a happy medium. Will some people shy away from the word EROTIC when it pertains to my books?
Yes.
Will some be disappointed that it’s not a smut fest?
Yes.
Can you please everyone?
No.
So, instead, I’m pleasing me. In the end, the only way to overcome this challenge was to write a solid book with a good mystery. Pepper it with love, sex, and relationship and hope for the best. There will always be critics, but I’ve learned that the biggest one should be none other than me.
I’m happy.
That helps beat back a hell of a lot of challenges.
