Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Description:

Publishing Date: February 11th, 2015

Anyone can say they're completely fulfilled with life. They can say all the right words and even behave as if not a darn thing is wrong even when their insides are hollowed out. And eventually, they'll search, dig, pry and perhaps bargain for a chance at satisfaction. If I can't be satisfied, then I guess I'll settle for what I can get.

Right?
Maybe?

Jezebel Jones and Jason Marks have been the rock in each other’s lives for years. No one knows Jezebel as well as Jason, and vice versa. As Jezebel comes to terms with being alone, she decides to settle for her ever-faithful friend. Although she’s never loved him romantically, Jezebel would like to believe that she could. Will their friendship withstand the changes?

And when Jezebel least expects to be swept away, she meets Aidan Broder. He stimulates her mind, body and soul. Even as Jezebel gets closer to him, she’s still afraid to dive in completely and finds herself in the middle of two men. In the end, Jezebel will have to make a choice between a man that has always loved her and a man that wants to love her.
EXCERPT

“I’m not a heartbreaker,” Jezebel responded. The pain had become too much to hide or hold back, especially after hearing the heaviness of his words. She clutched her throat, trying in earnest to stop the cries.
“You’re already breaking my heart. Each second I see you torn over your friendship with another man.” Aidan shifted from one leg to the other. His hand slipped into his pockets. He was vulnerable, Jezebel could see it in the way his head kept adjusting away from her.
“I’m sorry, Aidan . . .” she mouthed, her words drowning out in the midst of 1:30 a.m. traffic and distant sounds of the performance. “Can we leave?”
      Aidan nodded.
Jezebel wrapped her fingers around his, taking charge for once, feeling the need to let him know she cared. She had forgotten how to care a long time ago. She texted her friends from the car, afraid of Aidan disappearing if she went inside. They drove in silence while she planned for the night ahead. Aidan pulled into her driveway and got out to open her door. She noted that the car was still running.
“You’re not coming in?” she asked when he took her hand.
Jezebel touched the sides of his face, then the nape of his neck. She attempted to kiss him, but he remained distant.
“Aidan,” she breathed into his face.
“You’re too complicated for me, Jezebel.”
“I thought you liked that about me,” she joked. Her nerves tingled; she felt scared, nervous. “Let’s go inside.”
     “I’m heading home,” Aidan mumbled.
“Why?” Jezebel recognized her inconsistency, even how unfair she was being toward Aidan’s feelings. And still it was difficult to just allow him to leave. “Please, stay?” Tears poured down her face, and she pressed into his chest. He didn’t initially take her into his arms. She saw how hard he was fighting his emotions.
