He reached across the table and caressed my hand. My heart sank as I wanted to do this more than anything, but I knew I couldn’t.

“I wish. This is my last night here. I have to go tomorrow.”

“Then we had better enjoy tonight.”

He grabbed my hand and led me to the center of the square where several other couples were dancing. There was a deep familiarity about him, as if we had known each other for longer than a day. Effortlessly we danced together. His heart and mine, a magnetic presence between the two of us from the second we laid eyes on one another.

“You are a great dancer,” he said. “You are absolutely gorgeous, and I am having so much fun. I hope you are too.”

I wasn’t used to being showered with compliments, as Lucas was never one to dole them out.

He kissed me lightly on the cheek and murmured, “I want to show you something.”

It was as if he was able to navigate the city walls with his eyes closed. We left the square, and he led me through the maze of stone walls to a quiet, cobblestone alley. He pulled me close, kissing me in a way that I had never been kissed before. It was as if he yearned to be with me and wanted to make sure I knew that. I hungrily kissed him back, lost in the feeling of giddiness and excitement.

“Your skin is so soft,” he whispered. He lifted me up and pressed me against the smooth stone walls, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. We could still hear the soft music from the courtyard, and as he kissed my neck I gazed up into the night sky.

“You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, and you taste so good. You make my body shake just standing here against you.” He ran his hands up and down my body, and I moaned with pleasure. He then gently put my feet back on the ground, and he hovered over me, smiling deep into my eyes. He grabbed both of my hands with one of his and clasped my wrists above my head. He caressed my chin with his other hand, kissing me deeply and passionately.
