REVIEW The Pursuit of Lady Harriett (Tanglewood #3) by Rachael Anderson

Termed an Incomparable during her first London season, Lady Harriett Cavendish is beautiful, spirited, and confident, capturing the attention of a great many suitors. Unfortunately, they all failed to capture her attention, and she concluded the season as unattached as she’d begun it.

REVIEW:

I really enjoyed this story. It was a perfect equilibrium between humor, sentiments that start blooming against their owners’ wishes or knowledge, and mores of the time.

Harriett and Chris offer us a delicate duel of wits, pride and prejudice. And I didn’t say pride and prejudice for nothing. Imagine an Elisabeth without the stress of finding a husband and a Mr. Darcy with a little more whimsical attitude. Better said, imagine Elisabeth and Darcy seasoned with a bit of Kate and Petruchio from The Taming of the Shrew, yet still insecure enough so the problems they create for themselves to be possible.

But The Pursuit of the Lady Harriett has its own delightful charm. The dialogues are attractive and the situations in which the main characters put each other are very good managed by the author. The right amount of naivety, pertinence, plausible and Wicked and Mischief make a delectable concoction for the romantic ego of the reader.

The fact that is the third book of the series doesn’t count for the story, but I must confess that it made me very curious to find out what happened with the rest of the characters that make their fugitive apparition in this one. Even more, I would love to discover the story of Mrs. and Mr. Bidding.

Feeling good after reading it, it’s my pleasure to recommend you The Pursuit of Lady Harriett.
To paraphrase Chris, Mrs. Rachel Anderson “[S]urprised me. With liveliness and grace […] she swept me away.”

Enjoy! (I know I did!)

The Pursuit of Lady Harriett by Rachael Anderson

When wills clash and hearts collide, who will reign victorious?

Termed an Incomparable during her first London season, Lady Harriett Cavendish is beautiful, spirited, and confident, capturing the attention of a great many suitors. Unfortunately, they all failed to capture her attention, and she concluded the season as unattached as she’d begun it.

Only weeks prior to her second season, Harriett encounters Lieutenant Christopher Jamison while visiting Tanglewood Manor. Recently returned from war, the lieutenant is everything that Harriett’s previous suitors were not. He’s arrogant, ungentlemanly, irritating, and challenges her at every opportunity. When he goes too far, Harriett decides that it’s time to turn the tables on him. But as she sets out to put the lieutenant in his place once and for all, she discovers there is more to him than meets the eye, and when it comes to matters of the heart, she has no control whatsoever.
