two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and lots of sex talk - Saving It by Monica Murphy

"This is a cute romance novel with lots of frustration and a perfect ending. It's funny, sweet and addictive. [...] I've read quite a few books by Monica Murphy and I'm a huge fan. Her books tick all the right boxes for me. My favourite being Fair Game. I was so excited to read Saving it and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint. I can't get enough of this author, and I always look forward to what she will come up with next."- Danielle, Goodreads

Published: November 6th, 2017

Eden: Josh Evans and I have been best friends forever. He knows all my secrets, and I know all of his. So when he randomly asks me to help him lose his virginity, I sort of flip out. That’s a question that sends your mind to places you’ve seriously never considered before. Like, you know. Having sex. With your best friend. Except Josh doesn’t want to have sex with me—he wants me to help him find a girl. A nice girl who’s funny and smart and cute. Except he already knows a girl just like that…

Josh: Eden Sumner is my best friend. So of course she’d be the person to help me find my perfect match, so I can drop my V card before I head off to college. Except the more we search, the more I realize that maybe the right girl has been by my side all along. I don’t need Eden’s help in finding me a girl to love. I’m pretty sure I’m already in love with Eden. But now she thinks I’m only after one thing…with anyone but her.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book is what happens when American Pie meets Friends with Benefits. It contains two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and lots of sex talk. Reading this might have you looking at your best friend in a different light!

GUEST POST
The First Time

Ah, the first time. It’s a big deal, right? I remember it being a huge deal with all of this pressure and intensity surrounding it. I remember being scared to actually do it (I didn’t want to catch a disease and I definitely didn’t want to get pregnant). I remember knowing other kids who were doing it and feeling like I must be…lacking something because I wasn’t doing it. And when I finally did do it for the first time, it was with my boyfriend who I was in love with and while it wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t awful either and that’s the important part.

You really don’t want your first time to be awful, ya know?

And when I refer to the first time, you do realize I’m talking about having sex, right? That’s the topic of my book SAVING IT, which is about Josh going to his best friend Eden and asking her to help him find a girl to have sex with. But as they work on their little project, they start to see each other in a different light. They start to realize that maybe they are perfect for…each other.

Josh’s idea of losing his virginity to some random girl is not a good one in my opinion. I know that happens quite often, and for some people, it works. But for me, no way. I’d rather it be with someone special. Someone you love and trust.

Josh and Eden trust each other, and I think that’s huge. It’s huge to Eden too—I made sure of it in the book, that trust was everything to her. Eden wants to have sex with someone she truly cares about. She just doesn’t want to do it with some random dude. She wants to be in love.

Slowly but surely, Josh and Eden do realize that they’re the ones who are in love. That they care about each other as more than just friends. This is what I wanted to show in SAVING IT. It’s really awesome to be friends with someone first, and eventually fall in love. To have such total trust in the other person, that you’re willing to make yourself completely vulnerable to them.

To me, that makes the perfect first time.
